Wildfires Threaten Sacramento Car Transport Services

Sacramento Car Transport ServicesIn a surprising twist, summer wildfires are once again raging California, this time threatening Redding, Sacramento, and other northern California cities. Right now, Sacramento car transport services are still moving along, but the fire seems to be inching closer to the capital.

It’s large enough to have created its own weather system, according to CNN. It’s already destroyed almost a thousand structures and displaced thousands of people. 19 have perished in what could become the largest wildfire in California state history – a history that has a long stretch of destructive wildfires. Over 3,300 firefighters are working to combat the blaze, with limited results so far.

How this wildfire threatens Sacramento car transport services

Let’s say right now that it’s not actively threatening Sacramento shipping right now. It’s west of Redding, which is a good hundred and fifty miles or so away from the capital. So getting vehicles into or out of Sacramento, right now, probably won’t be difficult.

But that doesn’t mean that this wildfire is not affecting shipping services through Northern California. Auto shippers don’t like fire – it’s bad for business. But more importantly, it can drop ash and dust on cars that they are shipping, and that could lead to chemical reactions with metals and paint.

Is this common? No. We’ll say that right now. But more importantly than minor damages to cars is the fact that routes could be changed. Let’s face it – driving down a road with a raging wildfire near you isn’t fun. And considering this wildfire has morphed into the sixth-largest in California history, with little in the way of containment, it’ll probably get worse before it gets better.

What you can do about it when shipping to Sacramento

Right now most routes through Sacramento won’t be affected at all. But shipments to areas around Sacramento, including Redding, could be. Some carriers may just avoid the area entirely, shifting routes away from Interstate 5 to state routes or just different orientations altogether. It really just depends on the carrier company.

What you can do right now is…not much, really. Talk to your agent about your route and your services. If you’re shipping close to the wildfire, you probably will get rerouted to some other delivery location. If you’re shipping out of an affected area, you probably have bigger concerns than moving your car. So really, unless you’re already impacted by the wildfire, time will tell how bad it’ll affect you.
