Milwaukee is a city located in Milwaukee County, in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. It sits as the county seat of Milwaukee County and is home to a population of over 594,800 residents, which makes it the largest city in the state. Indeed, Milwaukee is the 31st largest city in the entire United States in terms of total population, though while it is Wisconsin’s largest city it is not the capital, which belongs to Madison.
Founded in 1818 and incorporated in 1846, Milwaukee traces its history back to French trappers and traders who settled the area in part because of the abundant wildlife. Today, Milwaukee is known for its brewing traditions and for its diverse and friendly culture.
Milwaukee anchors its own metropolitan statistical area, which is home to a population of over 2.025 million residents and ranks as the largest metro area in Wisconsin and the 31st largest in the United States. Milwaukee gets hot during the summer, but it’s the snow and ice that starts coming during the late fall that can disrupt auto transport traffic (and any kind of traffic, really).
