New Winter Storm Set to Impact West Coast Auto Shipping

West Coast Car ShippingA fresh storm is brewing off the west coast that should be hitting the coastal states by Friday,

This is the latest in a string of storms that has rocked the western U.S. since December. And while it hasn’t actually been upgraded to a winter storm, experts predict it will be upgraded in the coming days. West coast auto shipping services, particularly through the high passes in eastern California, Oregon and Washington, will likely be affected.

How will west coast auto shipping be affected?

Well the west coast has largely recovered from the last storm that rocked the region, with the exception of the mountainous areas. This is problematic as the main passes through the Reno area are still seeing snow and harsh weather. Considering I-80 runs through that pass, that’s going to cause issues.

And with this new winter storm coming, west coast auto shipping is going to be even more difficult to achieve this weekend. Luckily, it’s Super Bowl weekend, which often sees lower than average numbers of shipments. But that doesn’t mean that carriers aren’t on the road delivering vehicles.

Chances are that west coast auto shipping services are going to be impacted in several ways. For one, carriers will have to slow down along major routes through the region. Secondly, they’ll likely have to take longer to get from customer to customer. Some may not even be accessible due to the snow. And thirdly, anyone looking to ship out of the area will likely see their wait times increase, if only slightly.

These are typical when it comes to snow and ice and wintry weather. And they happened before. Luckily, shipments to southern California and likely eastern southern California won’t be as effected, as those areas don’t see the snow accumulation that the Pacific Northwest and the mountain passes around Tahoe do.

And really, that’s going to be the toughest part, going east or west through the passes. Make sure to speak to an agent about it to learn more and get more information about what to expect.
