When to Cancel Your Auto Transportation Services
Auto transport companies understand that cancellations happen and that there are many potential reasons for cancelling an order. Most cancellations come from the customer for one reason or another, but the question of when you can cancel is naturally going to arise in the course of conversation. And, truth be told, there are a few different times that you can cancel your auto transportation services, depending on the reason.
Most auto shippers will allow you cancel your order at any time prior to the vehicle being picked up, and most of them will not charge any type of cancellation fee so long as it hasn’t been dispatched (scheduled for pickup). Cancellation policies, including how much you have to pay to cancel and when you can, are available through those individual shipping companies, and while they may be similar they are all going to be different in terms of cancellation fees and windows. Few companies will allow you cancel an order if your vehicle has already been picked up or is en route to its destination.
You should be able to cancel your shipment at any time, but again, talk to your agent to learn more about it. You should also read a shipper’s refund policies – some companies take the entire balance up front and can be frustrating when trying to get your money back. Between refund waiting periods and processing windows and the like, some companies can drag their feet about refunds for days or weeks before they get it sent. This is why it’s important to know your auto transportation company’s refund policies before you book; at the very least you can prepare yourself for it when you cancel.
