Auto Transport to the New York City Metro Area

New York City 2The New York City Metropolitan Statistical Area is the largest metropolitan area by population in the United States – by a wide margin, no less. The metro area is home to over 20 million residents, while the New York City Combined Metropolitan Statistical Area is home to over 23.6 million residents. It is the largest urban agglomeration in all of North America, and one of the largest in the world. Ethnically and geographically diverse, the New York Metro Area spans four states and includes the five largest cities in New Jersey, four of the five largest in Connecticut, and five counties in Pennsylvania. The population of the New York Metro Area is higher than the entire state of New York.

The list of major cities in the New York Metro Area is long, but the area is anchored (obviously) by New York City, the largest city in the state of New York, in the United States, and in North America. As such, the New York Metro Area is the largest auto transport market in the country, though it has stiff competition with the state of Florida in that regard. Cities within the area include Newark, Jersey City, Paterson, Elizabeth, Edison, Bridgeport, New Haven, and more – more and more and more.

With such a large number of people living in a relatively compact area, it’s no surprise that transportation through the entire region tends to be clogged with traffic. Auto transport carriers like to run routes into and out of major metro areas, sure, but there are some out there with toll roads and congested freeways that can make it more difficult to get into or out of specific cities. This is why you should be flexible when it comes to shipping into or out of the New York Area – by working with your car transport carrier and finding a good middle ground where the carrier can safely load or unload your vehicle will save you time and, likely, money during your shipment. Some of the major interstates that car transport companies will use to get through the area include I-95, I-78, I-80, I-87, and numerous auxiliary (three-number) interstates that run regional routes through the area.
