Louisiana Auto Transport ServicesLouisiana is a state located in the southern United States, right along the Gulf of Mexico. It is home to over 4.6 million residents, with its largest city being New Orleans. Louisiana auto transport services are fairly easy to find because of New Orleans, which isn’t all that surprising.

Carriers want to run routes to and from big cities with large, sprawling metro areas. New Orleans certainly fits the bill there. There are some things to know about Louisiana auto transport, though, notably its rural areas, which are pretty big.

A bit about Louisiana auto transport services

Louisiana is known for its swamps and bayous, which can make it hard to ship a car there. That said, the bigger cities tend to be easier than the small ones when shipping a car to the region. And while New Orleans is its largest city, it’s not the only one in Louisiana that sees auto shipping services. If you look at the map below, cities such as Shreveport and Lafayette are also popular car transport locations. Note too that several larger cities, such as Metairie, are located close to New Orleans.

This is good for you because those metropolitan areas tend to attract more auto shipping carriers, but mostly New Orleans. What’s more important when it comes to Louisiana auto transport services are the interstate highways, of which there are several coursing through the state.

The most heavily traveled is easily I-10, which runs from Jacksonville, Florida west to Los Angeles, California. It is perhaps the most well-known in the southern U.S. and one of the main auto transportation arteries through the region. It passes through several major Louisiana cities including New Orleans, Lafayette and Lake Charles.

The other major one is I-20, which cuts through the northern part of the state. I-20 services Shreveport, which is another major auto transport location in Louisiana. These interstates make things faster and cheaper for carriers, which tend to result in faster transit times and lower prices for you.

About rural Louisiana auto transport services

If you’re shipping to or from an area that does not sit on an interstate, you can expect higher prices and less interest. This can be problematic if you’re shipping on a budget. Those areas are harder for carriers to make money on routes through, so they tend to avoid them if they can. Speak to an agent about it if your pickup or delivery location isn’t located on a major interstate.

The reason why those are more problematic for carriers is because of the lack of demand. Auto shippers go where their customers, and if there are no customers in an area, there’s no point going there.

However, there are enough large cities in the state to attract at least a modicum of interest if you are able to move your pickup or delivery location to them. Again, speak to an agent about possible alternatives if carriers are not interested in where you’re shipping from or to.
