GT-R 1The Nissan GT-R, originally known as the Nissan Skyline GT-R, is a performance sports car (also dubbed a “supercar”) that was originally released back in 1969. After only a short production run, it was discontinued, and would not be reintroduced until 1989. and production of that one ran until 2002. Dropped once more from the Nissan lineup, it was reintroduced as the GT-R (without the Skyline name, as was the case in the previous two iterations) in 2007. With a high price and custom-built engine and other parts, the GT-R is considered a luxury car as well as a high-end supercar, and you can learn more about it here.

The current (2015) GT-R model comes in three trim levels, the Premium, Black Edition and Track Edition. The Premium, the lowest-end trim level, comes in at a steep $101,000, but features a 3.3L twin-turbo 545hp V6 engine capable of high speeds and acceleration. The Premium line also features a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, Nissan’s patented ET-S All-Wheel Drive, 20″ RAYS wheels, and Nissan’s patented performance braking system. The Black Edition features all these (as well as the same engine), with a few upgrades, notably a dry carbon-fiber rear spoiler, 20″ special dark RAYS wheels, and different interior color schemes. The Track Edition, the most expensive of the GT-R models, features additional brake cooling systems, track-tuned suspension, a carbon-fiber trunk.

The Nissan GT-R is a vehicle that is best shipped via an enclosed auto transport carrier. Though Nissan is not a brand that one generally associates with high price, the GT-R (and the Skyline before it) is one of the exceptions, and when it comes to transporting it you want to be careful. As a high-end car, repairs are more expensive due to the higher-grade materials, particularly cosmetic exterior and mechanical fixes. And, really, if you’re looking to buy a GT-R (or already own one), you should be able to afford the few hundred dollars more that enclosed transportation will cost over the price of open. The safety and protection afforded by covered shipping will put your mind at ease when your GT-R is being transported.
