The Chevrolet Colorado was introduced in 2004 to replace the ailing S-10 lineup of pickups that had been in production for quite some time. The Extended Cab 2WD Colorado comes in four variants: the WT, Z85, Z71 and Sport. The WT is the base model and features a Vortec 2.9L Straight-4 engine, a five-speed manual transmission, 16-inch steel wheels and a color-keyed appearance package. The Z85 features the same Vortec 2.9L Straight-4 engine as the WT, but instead features a four-speed automatic transmission, 16-inch aluminum wheels and a power convenience package. The Z71 features a more powerful 3.7L Straight-5 Vortec engine, offering more horsepower and torque than the 2.9L variant, and also features an automatic-locking rear differential, 17-inch chrome-clad wheels, a sliding rear window, the Z71 suspension, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass and temperature display and bucket seats. The Sport, the most expensive Extended Cab 2WD Colorado available, features a 5.3L V8 Vortec engine (the most powerful one available on the models discussed above), as well as 18-inch Midnight Silver wheels, a ZQ8 suspension package and bucket seats. The Extended Cab variant of the Colorado is larger than the Regular Cab, but smaller than the Crew Cab models, which makes it a bit easier than the Crew Cab to ship.
