The Ford Taurus is Ford\’s largest and most expensive car and has been in production since 1986. It is the fourth-oldest nameplate in Ford\’s lineup. The Taurus has been the full-size model of choice for Ford since its inception, and is currently in its fourth generation. As of 2012, the Taurus is sold in four types: the SE, the SEL, the Taurus Limited and the SHO.
The SE comes in at $25,555 MSRP and features a 3.5L 24-valve DOHC Duratec V6 engine with a six-speed automatic transmission, AM/FM radio with CD player and the AdvanceTrac Electronic Stability Control system. The SEL, however, is priced at $27,555 MSRP and a larger engine featuring a six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission. In addition to that, it has dual-zone climate control (as opposed to the SE\’s single-zone), SIRIUS XM Satellite Radio and a perimeter anti-theft alarm. The SEL has additional, optional features such as the Sync platform and blue ambient lighting.
The Limited is priced at $32,355 and comes with the Sync system, perforated-leather bucket seats, a reverse sensing system and a rear-view camera – all standard. The SHO is the most expensive of the Taurus models at $38,155 MSRP. It features a much more powerful engine in the 3.5L V6 and comes with all-wheel drive standard, IntelligentAccess with a push-button starter and leather-trimmed bucket seats. Upgrades include climate-controlled front seats, a Sony-built audio system, a power rear-window sunshade, a remote start system, and more.
