Chevy Silverado 3500HD Extended Cab

Finding auto transportation for a Chevy Silverado 3500HD Extended Cab is no easy feat, but it’s certainly not impossible. In this article we’ll discuss the vehicle in depth, including what you will find if you are looking at purchasing one, the available options on all 3500HD Extended Cab models, and what you will be looking at in terms of difficulty when it comes to transporting one. The Silverado has been around in one form or another since 1975, so auto transportation companies are no stranger to the pickup truck line; however, it’s always best to know all the facts before purchasing or shipping one. The 2012 3500HD Extended Cab comes in six available models: the WT, LT, LTZ, WT Dooley, LT Dooley and LTZ Dooley, which are explained in brief below.

The WT is the base option and comes with a Vortec 6.0L V8 engine standard, though a Duramax 6.6L Turbo-diesel V8 engine with an Allison six-speed automatic transmission is available as an upgrade. Other standard features on the WT include a six-speed automatic transmission, single rear wheel application, Z85 handling/trailering suspension system, 4,443-lbs standard payload, 18-inch painted steel wheels, the Z82 heavy duty trailering equipment package and a G80 automatic rear locking differential. The LT, in addition to or replacing certain WT features, includes an MP3-compatible CD player, SiriusXM Satellite Radio for three trial months, power-adjustable and heated outside mirrors, power windows, premium cloth seating, 18-polished and forged aluminum wheels and OnStar with the Directions and Connections plan for six months. The LTZ, in addition to or replacing certain LT features, includes body-color-painted, power-folding, adjustable heated mirrors; an automatic locking rear differential, custom leather-appointed front bucket seats, a Bose-powered sound system and USB ports.

The Dooley versions feature two sets of two tires in the back and some hefty upgrades in the interior department. The WT Dooley features a 6.0L V8 Vortec engine with an available Duramax 6.6L Turbo-diesel V8, dual rear-wheel application, the Z85 handling/trailering suspension system, 6,321-lbs standard payload, 17-inch painted steel wheels and cruise control. The LT Dooley features an MP3-compatible CD player, SiriusXM Satellite Radio with three trial months, power-adjustable and heated outside mirrors, power windows, premium cloth seating, chrome overlays on the wheels and OnStar for six trial months. The LTZ Dooley is the largest 3500HD model and features body-color painted, power-folding and adjustable heated mirrors, an automatic-locking rear differential, custom leather-appointed front bucket seats, a Bose-powered sound system and USB ports.

Auto transportation for a truck this big is usually pretty expensive, we won’t lie to you, but it’s definitely worth it if you need to move it. Most auto transportation companies impose overweight or oversize vehicle fees for certain heavier vehicles; these fees are added on after your base price, as most auto transportation companies use similar pricing techniques to help keep the industry somewhat standardized. However, auto transportation companies do need to maintain their bottom line, and as heavy vehicles take up more room and cost more in fuel to move, auto transportation companies need to be able to make some money off of the vehicle. It’s important to discuss options with your auto transportation representative, of course, but be prepared to pay $250-$400 more than you would for a car. Dooley vehicles are often much more difficult for auto transportation companies to ship, given their larger nature and dual back tires, but most auto transportation companies shouldn’t have a problem if your shipment is paying enough.
