The Mazda CX-5 is a compact crossover SUV produced and distributed by Mazda. Introduced in 2012 for the 2013 model year, the CX-5 was the first Mazda model to feature the company’s Skyactiv Technology suite, which is the name of a comprehensive suite of different technologies that work together to lower fuel consumption and better fuel efficiency while also lowering emissions and providing for a more comfortable, smoother and more enjoyable ride. First shown in 2011 at the Frankfurt Auto Show, the CX-5 released to good reviews and a positive consumer base. Overall sales were decent in 2012, yet skyrocketed in 2013 with a huge increase in sales (43,000 in 2012 to 73,000 in 2013 roughly). Base price for the Mazda CX-5 starts at roughly $20,000, and you can learn more about the CX-5 via this link.
The CX-5, keeping true to the idea of a crossover, is available in both a front-wheel drive and an all-wheel drive configuration. Though in Japan and other markets the CX-5 is available in several different configurations, including different trip options and engines, in the United States the CX-5 is currently only available with the 2.0L four-cylinder Skyactiv-G gasoline engine. The engine comes with either an automatic or a manual transmission; the automatic is capable of 155 hp and gets 26 miles to the gallon in the city and 32 on the highway, while the manual transmission gets 26 mpg in the city and 35 on the highway. The CX-5 is popular for its low emissions and low carbon footprint.
As a compact crossover SUV, the CX-5 isn’t the largest vehicle on dealer show floors, but it’s also not the size of a Miata either. Really, at 3,200 pounds curb weight for the base model, it’s not that much heavier than a full-size classic car (you know, the ones made out of steel), and that means that carriers are going to be familiar with how to handle such a weight increase. Size-wise it’s smaller than a minivan by far, particularly the wheelbase and the height. This means that the CX-5 will not have any problems fitting onto a standard auto transport carrier, which means lower prices and quicker shipping times for you.
