Parker 1Parker is a city located in Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. Home to a population of just 840 residents, Parker is considered to be the smallest incorporated city by population in the United States, though this has been disputed. Parker is an incorporated city, however; it was incorporated during the Pennsylvania Oil Boom in the 1870’s and at one point the city had a population of over 20,000. However, once the oil boom ended Parker’s population began to disappear, and the city has not eclipsed a thousand residents since the 1920 U.S. census. Parker is a part of the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Metropolitan Statistical Area, though it sits almost 70 miles north of the city.

Auto Transport Tips to and from Parker

Parker sits well away from the city of Pittsburgh, the second-largest city in the state of Pennsylvania. Normally sitting inside a major city’s metropolitan area is a good thing when it comes to finding car shipping services; however, the city of Parker is so small that many auto transport carriers won’t want to go there. This can cause prices to rise for shipment into and out of Parker and will likely increase your wait times for pickup and delivery, unfortunately.

You can likely mitigate this somewhat by moving your pickup or delivery location out of Parker and somewhere closer to Pittsburgh. Carriers want to run routes into and out of major metro areas that surround major cities because that’s where their customers are. Moving vehicles into and out of rural areas away from major cities can be more expensive for carrier companies and less cost-effective per-vehicle, which means customers will have to pay more to cover those costs. Moving your pickup or delivery somewhere closer to Pittsburgh, preferably along a major interstate, should help mitigate some of those costs and keep your pickup or delivery windows shorter.
