Jacksonville is a city in and the county seat of Morgan County, in the U.S. state of Illinois. Home to a population of over 19,400, Jacksonville sits as the anchor of the Jacksonville micropolitan area; though it sits close to Springfield, which is only 40 miles or so east of the city. The city was founded in 1825 and grew rapidly; by 1829 there were calls for a college to be built – that college today is Illinois College. It played a small role during the rest of the 19th century, notably as the location where Abraham Lincoln endorsed John C. Fremont for president in 1856 and as a stop on the Underground Railroad. Manufacturing was brought to the city in the early 1960’s by Capitol Records, of all companies; they operated a manufacturing plant for vinyl LP’s, audio cassettes and eventually CD’s. The plant closed in 2004.

This lets them stack their loads along routes to maximize their potential profit, and Jacksonville doesn’t help all that much.
