West Palm Beach is a city located in Palm Beach County, Florida. Sitting on the northern end of the Miami metropolitan area, West Palm Beach is currently home to over 103,000 residents and is the county seat of Palm Beach County.
West Palm Beach is oldest municipality in the Miami metro area, having been incorporated in 1894, two years before Miami. West Palm Beach saw huge population gains during the Florida land boom of the 1920’s, though near the end of the decade a hurricane devastated the area, causing many people to leave and the land to drop in value.
It would not be until the outbreak of World War II and the Army’s presence in the area thanks to the Palm Beach Air Force Base that West Palm Beach would be profitable again. Post-war growth was slow but steady, though the population has begun to rise once more, starting in the late 1990’s.

Auto Transport Tips for West Palm Beach
West Palm Beach is located on the eastern shores of Florida, north of Boca Raton but south of Jupiter. Though it is included in the Miami metropolitan area statistically, realistically it’s a good 70 miles north of Miami proper, which means it may be cheaper to ship to West Palm Beach instead of Miami since carriers won’t have to take your car as far. Of course, it depends on where your carrier is coming from and to, but on the whole shippers going through Florida will pass through West Palm Beach regardless.
One of the main reasons why shippers go through West Palm Beach so often is that there’s only one major interstate that services it, Interstate 95, but that one interstate is perhaps the busiest in the United States as it connects most of the major east coast metro areas together from Maine to Florida. This tends to lower prices for auto transport services along the route, including to and from cities along that interstate, and that includes West Palm Beach.
The Miami metro area is one of the most popular areas in the United States for auto transportation services, and the beauty of this is that it’s year-round. Many areas of the country, particularly the northern areas, see snow and ice, which causes delays and price hikes in the car shipping industry. Miami and its metro area – indeed, all of Florida – avoids that, since it rarely snows in the region. This means that Florida is open almost all the time to auto shippers, which keeps prices lower and pickup times faster.
