D.C is perhaps the most important territory in the country, and we say territory and not city because it is not technically a city, but rather a territory. Actually, one could call it a district, as it is classified as the District of Columbia, but that’s beside the point. The main thing is that Washington D.C is home to the capital of the United States of America, and it houses some of the nation’s most historic buildings, monuments, landmarks, and anything else historic that you could think of.

However, D.C. was not always the idyllic paradise that it is now (not that it’s a paradise, but still, we digress). During the 1970’s and 80’s, crime ran rampant, and D.C. was the home to some of the largest crime lords that the United States has ever seen, but thanks to recent beautification efforts on behalf of the city, crime is at an all-time low and the capital has been cleaned up immensely.

If you’re traveling to Washington D.C during the summer, be careful. While the climate doesn’t get as hot as, say, Texas or Arizona, it does get in the upper 80’s, and highs are often seen topping 90 degrees or more in the middle of the summer. However, winters bring on the cold, so be prepared with a jacket or four. Average lows during the winter range between 30-40 degrees, and highs are seen as high as 60 degrees in the early parts of the winter, but rarely get above 50 in the deeper parts of the season. Snow is not uncommon around January and February, so be prepared for some treacherous conditions if you’re not used to them.
