The Hyundai Tucson is a compact crossover SUV first introduced by Hyundai in 2004 for the 2005 model year. Named after the city of Tucson, Arizona, the Tucson sits between the Hyundai Santa Fe and the Hyundai Veracruz in the automaker’s lineup.
Currently in its second generation as of 2009, the Hyundai Tucson has seen several facelifts over the years, notably the 2011 second-generation facelift which saw numerous styling and package changes.

The current Hyundai Tucson, the 2014 models, feature three different trim levels, the GLS, SE and Limited. The GLS features a 164-hp, 2.0L GDI DOHC 4-cylinder engine capable of 29 hwy MPG with a six-speed transmission and features 17″ alloy wheels, LED brake lights, a rear window wiper with washer, front solar glass and rear privacy glass, power everything, six-way adjustable driver seat, a Bluetooth hands-free system and steering-wheel-mounted audio and cruise controls. It starts at $21,450.
The SE comes in at $23,500 and – like the Limited – features a 182-hp 2.4L GDI DOHC 4-cylinder engine that gets 28 hwy MPG with a six-speed automatic transmission, automatic headlights, 17″ alloy wheels, a 4.3″ navigation system with touch-screen display, front fog lights and interior accent lighting.
The Limited, the highest trim level for the Tucson, features 18″ alloy wheels, side-mirror-mounted turn signal indicators, leather seating, dual automatic temperature control, a Blue Link Telematics system, an auto-dimming rearview mirror with Home Link capabilities and a leather-mounted steering wheel and shift knob.
The Hyundai Tucson is a crossover SUV, but it’s a compact, which means that any oversize or overweight vehicle shipping fees will be minimal at best. Unlike larger vehicles like the Chevy Suburban or Ford Explorer, the Tucson is small, built on a car-based platform (the Elantra’s, to be specific), and as such it is one of the smaller compact crossover SUV’s on the market today.
