A freight broker is an FMCSA-licensed intermediary that arranges transportation between shippers and motor carriers. Brokers do not own trucks — they match your shipment with a carrier from their network and coordinate the move. Every broker must hold active FMCSA broker authority (an MC number) and maintain a $75,000 surety bond (BMC-84).
