Description of Services
American Auto Shipping is a licensed and bonded auto transport broker. We connect customers who need to ship vehicles with licensed, insured motor carriers who physically transport those vehicles. We have been doing this since 1999, and we are registered with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).
Here is what that means in practical terms: we are the matchmaker between you and the truck that hauls your car. We handle the logistics — finding the right carrier, negotiating rates, coordinating pickup and delivery, and providing customer support throughout the process. The actual transportation is performed by independent carrier companies within our vetted network.
Our services include (but are not limited to): open auto transport, enclosed auto transport, door-to-door delivery, expedited shipping, and our AI-powered online marketplace for instant quotes.
User Responsibilities
When you use our website and services, you agree to the following:
- Accurate information — You will provide truthful and accurate information when requesting quotes, booking shipments, and communicating with us. This includes vehicle details, contact information, and pickup/delivery addresses. Inaccurate information can result in pricing changes or delays.
- Vehicle condition disclosure — You will accurately represent the condition of your vehicle, including whether it is operable (runs, steers, and brakes). Failing to disclose a non-running vehicle can cause problems at pickup and may result in additional charges.
- Availability at pickup and delivery — You (or an authorized representative) must be present at both pickup and delivery to sign the Bill of Lading and inspect the vehicle. This is required by federal regulations.
- Personal items — You understand that personal belongings left in the vehicle during transport are not covered by carrier insurance. We strongly recommend removing all personal items before shipping.
- Payment — You agree to pay the quoted price for services rendered, including any applicable deposits and carrier fees, in accordance with the payment terms provided at the time of booking.
- Lawful use — You will not use our website for any unlawful purpose, to transmit harmful content, or to interfere with the operation of our services.
Quotes, Pricing, and Payment
Quotes provided through our website or by our representatives are estimates based on the information available at the time. Prices can fluctuate based on market conditions, fuel costs, carrier availability, seasonal demand, and other factors. We do our best to honor quoted prices, but final pricing may vary.
A deposit is typically required to book your shipment and begin the carrier matching process. The remaining balance is paid directly to the carrier at delivery unless otherwise arranged. Deposit amounts and payment terms will be clearly communicated before you confirm your booking.
Cancellations made before a carrier has been dispatched to your location are generally eligible for a deposit refund. Once a carrier has been dispatched, cancellation fees may apply. We will always explain the cancellation policy before you commit to anything.
Limitation of Liability
As a broker, American Auto Shipping facilitates the connection between customers and carriers. The actual transportation of your vehicle is performed by independent motor carriers. Each carrier maintains their own cargo insurance as required by the FMCSA.
In the event of damage during transit, claims are filed against the carrier's insurance policy. We will assist you with the claims process and advocate on your behalf, but the carrier and their insurer are ultimately responsible for resolving damage claims.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, American Auto Shipping shall not be held liable for:
- Damage to vehicles during transport (covered by carrier insurance)
- Delays caused by weather, mechanical breakdown, traffic, or other circumstances beyond our control
- Loss or damage to personal items left in vehicles during shipping
- Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from the use of our services
- Errors or inaccuracies in website content
Our total liability, in any case, shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific service that gave rise to the claim.
