Wildfires Threaten California Car Shipping Services

California Car Shipping Services

More than 40 wildfires are blazing across the western United States and Canada, prompting evacuations and threatening California car shipping services.

The most prominent wildfires are north of Sacramento and in Santa Barbara county. The one north of Sacramento is just south of Oroville. If you remember, that area already saw evacuations of over 200,000 people due to spillway damage and the threat of flooding.

So they go from water hazards to fire hazards. Poor Oroville.

How the wildfires may threaten California car shipping services

Right now it seems like the fires are threatening travel along Route 70. But chances are that it’ll spread to other areas, making the region more difficult to traverse. This could make shipments into Sacramento more dangerous for carriers, especially those heading north or south.

And it’s not the only wildfire burning in the state. 14 of them are currently roaring across California. One of them is in Santa Barbara County, which resulted in the evacuation of 3,500 people. Another in San Luis Obispo County is threatening homes and has shut down sections of SR 154. 154 is a spur off the 101 that runs down to Santa Barabara. This is a pretty crucial route for auto shippers through the area.

Containment for all fires right now is relatively minimal, and spreading is likely. This will likely disrupt even more shipments through the state.

What to do about your California car shipping services

Firefighters are working to contain the blazes as soon as possible. But other than waiting, there’s little we can do. It’s safe to say, though, that the majority of routes through the state will be unaffected. Auto transporters usually stick to I-5 or the 101 when they’re going through California. But there’s so much demand for car shipping to or from the state that some routes are being affected.

We recommend speaking to an agent. They have the ability to talk to the carriers on the road to see what conditions are like on preferred routes. But if you’re shipping to Sacramento, Oroville, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, or any city near them, it’s a good idea to speak to an agent.

And besides, agents can give great advice on alternate routes and plans if your shipment is affected. They can discuss it with your carrier as well as find alternatives if necessary.
