Truck-Only Lanes Could Make Atlanta Auto Transportation Easier

Atlanta Auto TransportationIf you’ve ever driven in the Atlanta area, you know congestion and traffic is a pain. If you’re a trucker, you know this even more intimately. But Atlanta auto transportation services might get a bit easier if a new proposal manages to go through.

The Georgia Department of Transportation is looking at implementing a truck-only lane for I-75 northbound between Macon and Atlanta. The proposal would allow trucks and other commercial vehicles to travel in barrier-separated lanes. This is in an effort to reduce congestion, improve traffic flow, and decrease wasted time for trucks stuck in traffic.

How truck-only lanes could make Atlanta auto transportation easier

I-75 is a heavily-traveled interstate highway in the area. Running north out of Tampa, Florida, it’s one of the main north-south highways through the region. Carriers travel along I-75 every single day across the country. And it’s not just trucks – I-75 is a vital part of the Interstate Highway System for anyone trying to get around. As such, congestion, especially around major areas, is a concern.

And Atlanta is no exception. In fact, the Atlanta area is rather known for its congestion, which makes it harder for auto shippers. This new proposal could result in less time sitting in traffic, which will obviously reduce overhead. It can also reduce transit times, which is good for a carrier’s bottom line and for your schedule.

Right now it’s simply in the planning stages, but it’s something that could end up working out well. More studies will have to be done, of course, but this could be a good step to reducing traffic congestion and overhead cost for commercial carriers in a traditionally packed area.
