Southern Auto Transport May be Affected by New Tornadoes
Strong winds, rain, hail and tornadoes have strewn across the southern U.S. today, throwing southern auto transport services into chaos.
The storm is massive and spreads across multiple states. It has already moved past Birmingham and continues to head northeast. Most auto shippers don’t want to run routes through areas under tornado warnings, of course. It seems like the storms will likely last another day as well.
How this affects your southern auto transport services
Right now, areas from Atlanta to Raleigh to Washington, D.C. are under threat of tornadoes. This isn’t good for southern auto transport services because those are some major car transport locations.
Carriers don’t want to work in those conditions – would you? Driving down the road and all of a sudden a tornado forms and there goes your load. That’s a real problem, and it’s not surprising that they wouldn’t want to run routes in that. So they don’t. Instead, most carriers will simply wait for the danger to pass.
This is for carriers currently on the road, and frankly there’s a lot of them. Right now, southern auto transport services are prominent considering the weather in the northern U.S. And if you follow our blog, chances are you’ve read about some of the storms that have come out the past few months.
This storm is no different other than the fact that it’s not snowing. But snow and ice aren’t the only things that carriers avoid. Really, any severe weather is something they need to keep an eye on because you never know what’s going to come and rip up one of the cars they’re hauling. So they need to be careful. This means keeping an eye on the news and the weather to make sure they aren’t going to an area where a vehicle may be damaged.
As such, this new storm is going to screw up some routes and transit times and pickup/delivery timetables. It’s pretty much par for the course, but make sure to be aware of that. Talk to an agent if you feel your route may be affected and see what options are available to you.
