Idaho Car Transportation to Get a Boost Thanks to New Funds

Idaho Car TransportationInterstate 84 is easily the most heavily-traveled interstate highway through Idaho. This means that it’s not only the most important route for commuters, but also for long-haul truckers. Idaho car transportation doesn’t see a lot of traffic, sure, but there’s enough demand that carriers go through the state somewhat regularly.

But new transportation funding for the state will help widen a crucial stretch through Nampa, which sees upwards of 8000 trucks a day (not all car shippers). The widening of the corridor should help ease congestion in the area, which has only worsened as the area has increased in size. This will likely mean delays until the roadwork is finished, though a time table has yet to be released.

How This Can Affect Idaho Car Transportation Services

According to many motorists in Idaho the improvements are needed. Right now, traffic through the Boise metropolitan area has only gotten worse thanks to an influx of new people. And the infrastructure has yet to really catch up with the number of new motorists. This has impacted long-haul shipping services across the board, from produce shippers to car transporters. Widening the stretch of I-84 through Nampa is only one piece of the puzzle, however, and more will be needed.

Idaho’s transportation funding comes in the form of what are called GARVEE bonds. The bonds have to be renewed each year and gives funding to areas that need improvements…which is just about everywhere in the state. But auto shippers should find it easier in the long run to get to the Boise metro area after this – or, at least, through it.

And that’s the biggest issue – getting through major metropolitan areas. Carriers will go wherever they’re needed but they can waste valuable time and money sitting in traffic. This is especially true in cities like Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago and New York City. But it’s the same just about anywhere, and if a carrier has to sit in traffic that’s a pain.

How This Will Affect Your Idaho Car Transportation

Until the work actually starts, chances are nothing is going to change for Idaho car shipping services and those who provide them. But when it does finally start up, you can bet there will be delays. Construction always brings delays, but it’s a small price for a long time of easier access. And that’s important when it comes to car shipping services – how easy is it to get around?

Right now, getting through the Boise area is apparently challenging…or, at the very least, time consuming. And this can lead to increased prices to or from an area that already sees high costs for auto transport. So in the short term you’ll likely see some longer wait times, but not much longer. Prices shouldn’t go up either, really – the route is still the same, after all. Some carriers may want to divert to a different route, though it’s Idaho so that may not be feasible.

Speak to an agent to learn more about how this might affect your shipping services. Chances are they won’t – the construction will impact daily commuters more than anything, and mostly just in terms of commute times. Carriers may have to take a bit longer to get through the Nampa area when they’re working on it, but once it’s done there may be a slight dip in transportation time through the region.
