Georgia Car Transport Under Duress Due to Severe Weather

Georgia Car TransportSevere thunderstorms are currently bombarding the Gulf Coast from Alabama to the Florida panhandle. This is yet another instance of severe weather to hit the region, which could make Georgia car transport – and transportation to other parts of the Gulf Coast – that much harder to find.

It’s a squall line, according to weather.com, which can be just as dangerous as tornadoes, apparently, especially in the Deep South. A squall line is basically a series of severe thunderstorms that can bring huge hail stones, devastating winds and can even spawn tornadoes. Winds upwards of 60 mph are common in squall lines, and downed limbs and power lines can make travel dangerous. Felled trees can cause damage to car transportation trucks and their cargo.

How severe weather will affect your Georgia car transport services

If you live in Georgia you know that severe weather is common this time of year. But most of the time, car shippers will prepare accordingly. However, something as severe as a squall line can cause some problems for them. Hail is the main culprit – look at this picture of hail damage to a car. The windshield is gone, the hood is trashed – that’s incredible.

Now, to be fair, I can’t tell you if this happened on a car carrier or not. But that’s beside the point; if an open car hauler gets caught outside in that kind of storm, that’s at least five cars (the top rack) that are going to be damaged. That’s an issue. So many auto transporters are going to try their best to avoid those kinds of storms. Of course, this is much easier said than done, as these storms can form fairly quickly.

So you can expect delays in transit, pickup and delivery for Georgia car transport services right now. These storms are expected to last through the next couple of days as they make their way toward the Atlantic Ocean. This means that you should expect delays and diversions on any Georgia car transport routes.

What you can do to prepare for Georgia car transport

There’s really not much you can do right now, to be honest. You can talk to your agent about the weather and how to go about avoiding potential damage. But really, if your car is already in transit through the area, you’re just going to have to wait until your carrier shows up. We don’t recommend contacting your car transporter directly; instead, let your agent do that. If you’re worried about anything happening to your vehicle during transit thanks to the storm, that’s a decent option.
