East Coast Auto Shipping Gets Easier with Drivewyze
Eleven new weigh station bypass services have been activated in South Carolina by Drivewyze. Drivewyze, a company that has weigh station bypass technology in 38 different states, says the technology will help speed up and make easier east coast auto shipping services.
The new sites in South Carolina are located on U.S. Interstates 20, 26, 77, and 95, and also U.S. Highway 17. With the addition of South Carolina, 14 of the 16 states of the I-95 Corridor now have Drivewyze weigh station bypass systems in place.
The bypass system relies on state and federal databases to determine whether a given carrier meets traditional screening criteria. If it does not, they will still have to stop at a weigh station. Drivewyze has stated that the bypass system helps to make inspectors and inspections faster and more efficient.
How does this help east coast auto shipping services?
Considering how long and how heavily traveled Interstate 95 is, this should help a lot. As mentioned, Drivewyze is already operating along most parts of the I-95 corridor, and it’s already helped. Auto shipping transit times are down through those areas, it’s said, resulting in faster transit times and more frequent pickups.
But it goes beyond that. The bypass system allows carriers to get from one customer to another more quickly. This means more money per day, on the whole. And this tends to result in lower auto shipping prices for customers. Bypass systems are great for any carrier who is pressed for time (which is, like, all of them).
But more importantly, it should make things cheaper. This is for several reasons, but several have already been stated. For one, transit times are lowered. Because of this, carriers can service more customers more quickly, and refill their trucks faster after deliveries. This means that they can charge each customer less because there’s plenty of money to go around.
Not only that, but it makes things easier for the carrier, too. I-95 is already expensive especially up through the Philadelphia-New York area and New England. This is mostly because of toll roads. And while there are systems in place to make collecting those tolls faster and easier, it’s still time consuming. Cutting that time down is important to managing auto shipping expenses for carriers, and this system should help there too.
