Car Shipping Services to Fresno, CA

Fresno 2Fresno is a city in as well as the county seat of Fresno County, in the U.S. state of California. Home to over 509,000 residents, Fresno is the fifth-largest city in the state of California, the largest inland city in the state as well as the 34th largest city by population in the entire nation. The city has its roots in the California Gold Rush, though Fresno proper was not founded until 1872.

Before its founding Fresno had been known as Fresno Station, where a small store had been built next to a line of the Southern Pacific Railroad. Residents from all over the area flocked to the new station, and Fresno was born out of it. Today, the city is a major transportation and logistics center of California’s Inland Empire region and anchors the greater Fresno Metropolitan Statistical Area, home to over 1.1 million residents.

Fresno is located in the heart of the San Joaquin Valley, north of Bakersfield and south of Modesto. Fresno is the fifth-largest city in the largest state by population in the entire country, which is really saying something to the size and scope of the city. Its metropolitan area is also fairly large, at over 1.1 million residents.

This in turn makes Fresno a popular auto transport location for customers; with so many people living in one area, and with the size of the city as large as it is, it’s not all that surprising that someone, somewhere, needs to ship a vehicle into or out of Fresno. This generally results in more carriers running routes into and out of Fresno, because there’s always going to be someone who needs to ship a car there.

At the same time, though, Fresno doesn’t sit along any major interstates, but it’s in California, which has a rather large and expansive transportation system as-is. While the nearest interstate to Fresno is I-5, a major interstate in the auto transport industry, to be sure, there’s another another road, highway 99, that runs south roughly parallel to I-5 that services the Inland Empire. Starting in Sacramento and running south to meet up with I-5 in Bakersfield, 99 offers auto transporters access to many inland cities including Stockton, Modesto, Merced, Fresno, Clovis, Visalia and Bakersfield, to name a few.

While not the largest cities in California by any means, they are still heavily populated areas, and 99 runs through an area full of literally millions of people. This increases the likelihood of finding customers along the way, and ensures that car shippers will always be able to run the route and turn a profit. By being able to link back up with I-5, which actually passes through only a few minor cities between Stockton and Santa Clarita, 99 may actually be a better choice for auto transporters due to where 99 passes as compared to I-5.

During the summer months Fresno can see temperatures skyrocket into triple digits; average daily highs reach into the upper 90’s, after all, so temperatures over a hundred degrees aren’t all that uncommon. Summer tends to be dry and arid, which is no problem for car shipping carriers. Winter months are also really helpful when shipping to or from Fresno. Auto transport companies don’t like running routes in areas that see a lot of winter weather – snow, ice, things like that.

It’s hazardous to the cargo they haul and can result in increased frequencies of damage due to the unpredictable nature of driving in wintry conditions. Fresno sees wet winters, but rarely snow, since average temperatures fall only into the upper 30’s, and the lowest recorded temperature in Fresno is 17 degrees, a rarity in the area to be sure. This leads to more shippers including Fresno in their winter travel plans, since it’s easy to get into and out of due to the lack of snow and is a popular location due to its size.
