Be Specific if You Call for Auto Transport Quotes
If you’re searching for quotes to ship a vehicle, you’re going to have a much easier time getting quotes if you know where the hell you’re shipping your vehicle from and to and what kind of vehicle it is. These are important factors when it comes to pricing your shipment and you will definitely be asked for this information by every single company that you call to get a quote from. As a customer, you should never be satisfied with an estimate – in fact, you should never go out looking for estimates in the first place, because the vehicle shipping industry doesn’t run on estimates, it runs on cold hard cash, just like any company.
Not only that, but estimates can vary widely from actual prices. Anyone can give you an estimate – it’s nothing more than a guess. Hell, we can get you an estimate – fortunately for you, we actually know a thing or two about shipping vehicles, since we’ve been in the industry since 1999, so at least you know our estimates are based on past experience with the industry. But at the end of the day, specifics are important, and you can’t get away just with estimates, you need actual, real-life quotes, honest-to-goodness prices, not just what someone thinks it’s going to cost.
But in order to get accurate quotes, you need to be accurate yourself – it’s just the way it is. Sometimes things don’t matter as much – for instance, it’ll cost the same to ship a 2006 Toyota Corolla as it would a 1995 Corolla or a 2015 Corolla. They’re the same basic size and weight, which is the most important part of shipping a car. But a 2006 Toyota Corolla will not cost the same as a 2006 Ford F-350 SD SuperCab 4×4 – it’ll be a lot less. It’s the same with your quotes – a shipment from Los Angeles to New York is not going to cost the same as a shipment from San Bernardino to Buffalo, okay? You need to be specific in your pickup and delivery locations as well as what you’re shipping – if you’re not, you’re going to run into problems down the road. “New York” is not – NOT – just New York City, okay?
Seriously, that’s probably one of the biggest things that you can do to help out your shippers – have the year, make and model of your vehicle ready to go and make sure to double-check zip codes. If you’re unsure of the zip codes you’re shipping from or to, that’s fine – at least have the city name ready to go. But don’t try to be cute and say you’re shipping out of a major city when in fact you’re seventy miles away. It doesn’t do anyone any good and is pretty much a waste of our time just as much as it is yours. We don’t mean to sound mean or offensive – we just want to help you get the most accurate quotes you can so you’re not wasting anyone’s time.
