Hanover is a borough in York County, Pennsylvania; it is located just 19 miles sough of York and only 54 miles north of Baltimore, Maryland. Hanover is a major agricultural center of the region and, according to the official US Census conducted in 2000 the city’s population was over 14,000. The name derives from the German city of Hanover.

Hanover began life in 1730, when residents began settling in the area. In 1815 the area was incorporated as Hanover after the American Revolution saw a growth spurt in the area. It was the site of the Battle of Hanover during the Civil War, which delayed Confederate cavalry and ultimately helped the Union army win the battle.

During the winter months, however, temperatures typically hit around 40 degrees during the day, with overnight lows often dropping to around 27 degrees.
