Humble is a city in Harris County, Texas, and is a part of the Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land Metropolitan Statistical Area, also known as Greater Houston. Humble is currently home to a population of over 15,000, and shares a zip code with nearby Bordersville; despite sharing a zip code and having different names, residents of Bordersville are given Humble addresses, for postal purposes. The city’s settlement dates back to the early 19th century, with an established settlement prior to 1828. The city grew slowly until the oil boom at the beginning of the 20th century; Humble became a major oil producer, and by 1905 the Humble oil field was producing more oil than any other operation in the state of Texas. Population growth began to slow after the boom ended, but the construction of the Houston Intercontinental Airport – renamed the George Bush International Airport – brought renewed interest in the area, and the population has begun to grow once again.

Auto Transport Tips to and from Humble
Humble sits north of Houston, maybe 20 miles or so, which means it’s generally easier to get to than some areas of Greater Houston. Situated along I-69, a north-south interstate that runs out of Houston then turns into a state highway past Cleveland, Texas, Humble doesn’t see a lot of auto transport traffic, which hurts carrier availability and can also cause higher prices. That being said, moving your pickup or delivery location out of Humble and into Houston, just south, might make a lot of difference in price and availability, especially if you can meet your carrier along their route as opposed to making them go to you.
At the same time, Humble does sit just east of I-45, and has several routes that can take carriers directly to it. I-45 is main north-south link between Dallas and Houston, and Humble being right next to it and easily accessible certainly helps the cause. You may be better off meeting your carrier along State Highway 8, which connects I-45 and I-69 just south of Humble; this could lead to slightly lower prices and probably faster pickup or delivery, so keep that in mind as well. Moving your location out of Humble will likely net you the best rates and faster pickup and delivery, but you’ll want to discuss all your options with an auto transport representative.
