Phoenixville is a borough located in Chester County, in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. It is currently home to a population of over 16,400 residents and sits about 38 miles west of Philadelphia proper. Originally known as Manavon, the area that is now Phoenixville was first settled in 1732 and remained little more than an agricultural settlement until the 19th century. Incorporated in 1849 and renamed Phoenixville, the town became an important manufacturing center outside of Philadelphia, namely in steel and textiles. However, over the past sixty years or so, much of the city’s manufacturing base has left, as it has throughout much of the northeastern U.S., and today Phoenixville is a minor suburb of Philadelphia and rather removed.

Auto Transport Tips to and from Phoenixville
Phoenixville sits within the Delaware Valley Metropolitan Area, which is anchored by Philadelphia, the largest city in Pennsylvania. Though it’s a suburb of Philadelphia, it’s pretty far out there – at close to 40 miles, and with traffic in the area often at a crawl, auto transport companies will probably have a harder time getting into or out of Phoenixville without having to run in the red due to how long it’ll take them to get there. You may be able to save some money by moving your pickup or delivery location closer to Philadelphia, though where exactly is a conversation to be had with your shipping company.
Part of this has to do with the fact that Phoenixville doesn’t sit along any major interstates or even U.S. highways, and is only accessible to larger commercial vehicles via surface streets or smaller state highways. This might be good for day-to-day driving, but for auto transport carriers it can mean hours of delays in trying to get to your pickup or delivery location within the borough. As mentioned, it’s a good idea to discuss your shipment with a live auto transport agent, one that is at least familiar with carriers that service the Philadelphia area and possibly even Phoenixville.
