Norristown is a borough in as well as the county seat of Montgomery County, in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. Home to a population of over 34,300 residents, Norristown is the fourth-largest municipality in Mongomery County and a small but important part of the Greater Philadelphia Area, as it is located just six miles from Philadelphia’s city limits. Founded in 1812, Norristown was originally an industrial center and small shopping area; though its proximity to Philadelphia hurt it somewhat, the city saw massive economic decline during the latter half of the 20th century, particularly after the construction of the King of Prussia Mall, which sits just southwest of Norristown proper. Coupled with the wave of deindustrialization that hit the U.S. during this time as well and the city’s economy has only just recently started to recover.

Auto Transport Tips to and from Norristown
The Greater Philadelphia area is very large, covering hundreds if not thousands of square miles, so when you’re shipping into or out of the area you’ll likely find prices to be more competitive. Auto transport companies want to run routes into and out of major metropolitan areas, and Norristown sits just six miles from Philadelphia proper, so getting to or from the borough shouldn’t be too difficult. At the same time, you may be able to save some time and possibly money as well by being flexible in your pickup or delivery locations around Norristown; if a carrier can shave a day by having you meet them somewhere closer to their planned route, it might be a good idea to do that.
Part of the reason this may happen is because Norristown doesn’t sit along any of the major interstates that service the Greater Philadelphia area. It does sit along one of I-76’s auxiliaries, I-276, as well as a few different state highways, but on the whole auto transport carriers would prefer to stick to the routes that they established before actually getting into the area. They prefer to stick to major interstates when constructing the routes they’re going to run, as the interstates are how they get from one major city to the next, especially on long coast-to-coast routes (or routes that are almost as long). By moving your pickup or delivery location out of Norristown and into an area more easily accessible by carriers, you can potentially save a bit of time and money on your shipment.
