Middletown is a township located in Delaware County, in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. Home to a population of over 16,000 residents, Middletown was one of the first suburbs founded in Pennsylvania back in 1786, and was declared a Home Rule township in 1978. Middletown Township is heavily residential and wooded, with many suburban developments having sprouted up since the 1940’s and 50’s, though it is also the home of Granite Run mall, one of three enclosed shopping centers in Delaware County. It is also the home of one of Pennsylvania State University’s satellite campuses, located in the north-central portion of the township.
