McKeesport is a city located in Allegheny County, in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. Home to a population of over 19,700 residents, it is the second-largest city in the county, after Pittsburgh, and McKeesport also sits as a part of the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city was first settled as early as 1795 and was first incorporated as a village. After coal was discovered in the area, mining operations began in earnest and it was reincorporated as a borough in 1842 and then as a city in 1891. Like many cities in the Pittsburgh metro area, McKeesport has seen its ups and downs economically, though today it is a small commercial and residential center focusing on redeveloping the old mill sites that once dotted the area.

Auto Transport Tips to and from McKeesport
McKeesport sits only a few miles southeast of Pittsburgh, which usually means that it’ll be cheaper and faster to ship to or from the area than a more rural area. Auto transport companies want to run routes into and out of major cities, as that’s how they keep their trucks filled and their prices lower. Typically this includes bedroom cities that surround major cities, and the Pittsburgh metro area is a major city surrounded by a sprawling metropolitan area. As such, many auto transport carriers will easily be able to get into and out of McKeesport, though it may still be more cost-effective to ship to or from some other part of the metro area if you’re looking for a way to save time or money on your shipment.
This is because of the fact that not only do auto transport companies like to run routes into and out of major areas, but they also like to run routes along major interstate highways. Pittsburgh has several that run through the city, but McKeesport is accessible only via smaller state highways and local access roads, so carriers may have a harder time getting into and out of the area due to the lack of infrastructure. It depends on the route they run and how big their trucks are, of course, so you’ll want to discuss your shipping options with a live auto transportation representative for more information in that regard.
