Aston is a township located in Delaware County, in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. It was one of the first townships every formed in the state of Pennsylvania and the area has been inhabited almost since Pennsylvania was founded. In fact, an old inn – since lost by fire – in the township was used as the headquarters of Lord Cornwallis during the Battle of the Brandywine during American Revolution. In 1945, however, the small community of Chester Heights seceded from the township and formed it’s own, requiring a redrawing of the township’s boundaries and taking a good chunk of its population with it. Today, Aston Township is home to over 16,200 residents and is a part of the Delaware Valley Metropolitan Statistical Area.
