Lorain is a city located in Lorain County, in the U.S. state of Ohio. Ironically, it is not the county seat; that title belongs to Elyria. Home to a population of over 64,000 residents, Lorain is the tenth-largest city in the state of Ohio and the second-largest in Lorain County. Lorain’s largest claim to fame is perhaps being the home of Ford Motor Company’s Lorain Assembly Plant, which produced the Ford Econoline, Torino, and the Mercury Montego. Though the plant shut down in 2005, Lorain is still home to Republic Steel, which maintains offices in the city and is planning on bringing steel manufacturing back to the city as well.

Auto Transport Tips to and from Lorain
Lorain is located roughly 30 miles west of Cleveland on the shores of Lake Erie. One of the larger cities in the Cleveland Metropolitan Area, Lorain as a city tends to see a decent amount of auto transport traffic. This is mainly due to the fact that Cleveland does – as auto shippers prefer to run routes into and out of major cities and their surrounding metropolitan areas, and Lorain is not only a major part of Greater Cleveland but also a decent-sized city in its own right, you shouldn’t have too many problems finding a carrier to run into or out of Lorain. At the same time, you may be able to save some time or money by moving your pickup or delivery location out of Lorain and into Cleveland, though that depends on who you are shipping with and the route they are running.
Lorain sits right along I-90, a major east-west interstate and one of the primary interstates servicing the northern United States. This is big; while Lorain may not be the largest city in the area, it does sit along a major interstate highway, which allows carriers to easily get into and out of the area without having to deviate from their established routes that much. Not only that, but even running routes through Lorain, auto shippers can easily get to other major cities outside of Greater Cleveland, which will help keep your prices lower as well.
