Kettering is a city located primarily in Montgomery County, Ohio, with sections in adjacent Greene County. Home to a population of just under 56,000 residents, Kettering is the second-largest city in the Dayton, Ohio Metropolitan Statistical Area, after Dayton itself, and is considered a major suburb of the city. First settled in the late 18th century, Kettering grew slowly and was namely an agricultural community for a number of years. After the wave of deindustrialization began sweeping through the northern states, Kettering saw a rise in population and turned into a suburban residential community more than anything else. Incorporated as a village in 1952 and as a city a few years later, Kettering today is the largest city outside of Dayton within the metro area.

Auto Transport Tips to and from Kettering
Kettering is a major part of the Dayton metro area, and as such it’s not surprising that it sees a fair amount of car transport traffic as a result. While the popularity won’t be near as high as Dayton’s – or other major cities in Ohio, for that matter – it is still a fairly easy-to-get-to area for carriers, which helps the cause. See, carriers like to run routes into and out of major metropolitan areas, as that tends to be where their customers congregate. By staying to major cities and suburbs thereof, carriers can quickly and easily find loads in the area, keeping their trucks full longer and ultimately making more money in the long run.
Kettering sits just south of Dayton proper, and what really helps is the interstate highways that run through the Dayton area. I-70 is the main east-west route through the area, running just north of Dayton proper but still close enough to provide carriers easy access. I-75 also runs north-south just west of Kettering, but the real hero is the auxiliary interstate I-275, which encircles the Dayton area and allows carriers easy access to Kettering from both I-75 and I-70. This helps keep your prices lower when shipping to or from the city and also helps keep your transit times a bit quicker.
