Kent is a city located in Portage County, in the U.S. state of Ohio. Currently home to a population of over 29,600 residents, it is the largest city in the county and a part of the Akron, Ohio, Metropolitan Statistical Area, which makes it a more popular car transport location for customers and carriers alike. First settled as early as 1805, Kent was originally known as Franklin Mills. Historically a manufacturing center, Kent today has seen much of its manufacturing disappear, which has instead been replaced by different service-based industries including retail and, most notably, education, as the city is the home of Kent State University.

Car Transport Tips to and from Kent
Kent sits only a few miles from Akron, one of the largest cities in the state. As we mentioned, Kent is officially a part of the Akron metro area, which means car transport companies are more willing to run routes into and out of the city because it is easier to access and located close to a fairly large auto transport market in Ohio. Car transport companies want to run routes through major metro areas because that’s where most of their customers tend to live. Not only that, but they can easily get from one customer to another within the metro area, meaning they get paid faster as they can service more customers in one area. This helps keep prices for the carrier lower, which translates to lower prices for customers – this is what we mean by “competitive pricing.”
It also helps that Kent sits just north of I-76, which may not be the most popular east-west interstate in Ohio but it is a fairly important one nonetheless. I-76 gives car transport carriers access to a variety of different areas, notably Cleveland, to the north (via its connection to I-71 west of Akron) and Pittsburgh, to the east. By giving carriers an easy way between two major car transport markets, auto transport companies can easily get from one customer to the next without having to take rural roads, state highways or service less-than-ideal areas that don’t see a lot of vehicle shipping traffic. This helps keeps prices more competitive as well.
