Delaware 1Delaware is a city in as well as the county seat of Delaware County, in the U.S. state of Ohio. The city is currently home to a population of over 34,700 residents and is located in central Ohio, near Columbus. Delaware was founded in 1808 and was incorporated as a city in 1816. Delaware was originally in the running for capital of Ohio, but lost to Columbus by one vote; in the 1830’s a hotel was built as a health spa near a mineral spring in the area; however, the hotel was a commercial failure and was abandoned by the end of the decade. Townspeople bought the abandoned hotel and gave it to the Methodist Church in the area, who ended up turning the hotel into what is known today as Ohio Wesleyan University, a public liberal arts college.

Auto Transport Tips to and from Delaware

Delaware, Ohio sits about 20 miles north of Columbus proper, placing it in the Columbus, Ohio Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is home to over 2 million residents and is the third-largest metro area in the state. Sitting close to a major city is a good thing, especially when you’re looking for car transport services into or out of smaller areas like Delaware. This is because auto shipping carriers like to run routes through major cities and metropolitan areas, such as Columbus, and are more likely to not only run routes through smaller cities if they’re close to bigger ones, but will also offer better prices since it costs them less in fuel and time.

But sitting close to a major city is not the only thing that can help your prices. Since the car transport industry is a nationwide one, auto carriers rely on the Interstate Highway System to get around the majority of the routes they use. By sticking close to the major interstates, they can get from one major city or metropolitan area to another quickly and easily, which helps keep their overhead costs lower which in turn will help keep your costs lower. While Delaware doesn’t sit along any major interstates directly, I-71 – a major north-south interstate through Ohio – runs just east of the city, which still makes for easy access.
