Palatine is a village located in Cook County, in the U.S. state of Illinois. Home to a population of over 69,000 residents, Palatine is the seventh-largest community in Cook County as well as the 18th-largest in the state of Illinois. Palatine began in 1866 after a stop on the Chicago and North Western Railway was built on the outskirts of burgeoning Chicago. This spurred initial growth during the latter half of the 19th century, and by the outbreak of World War II Palatine had grown into a rather large village on the outskirts of Chicago. Today, the city is a major part of the Chicago metropolitan area and is located just west of Arlington Heights.

Auto Transport Tips to Palatine
Located within the Chicago Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is home to over nine million residents and ranks as the third-largest metro area in the country by population, Palatine is usually an area that sees competitive pricing and shorter pickup and delivery windows. Auto transport companies prefer to run routes into and out of major metropolitan areas; with a lot of people located in one major area, carriers are able to find multiple loads in one place that they can use to keep their trucks full, which in turn helps keep costs lower. The Chicago area has a lot of potential customers, and it’s a popular shipping area among customers anyway, so carriers are almost always willing to run routes into and out of the villages surrounding Chicago and the city itself.
Some areas of the metro area are going to be cheaper to get into and out of for carriers, and this depends a lot on access, usually via interstate highways. Palatine proper is only accessible via state highways, though there are three of them that connect to the village. Most carriers don’t like state highways for long journeys, but use them frequently to get around smaller areas, particularly cities and towns within a large metropolitan region. Palatine is easily accessible by three state highways, and it also helps that I-90’s route runs just south of the village. This gives you options – carriers can either go into Palatine proper, or they can ask you to meet them on the outskirts of the village for pickup or delivery. This tends to keep prices more competitive as well, as there are easy ways to access Palatine, but if you’re shipping on a budget be sure to ask if there are other parts of Chicagoland that may be even cheaper to get to or from.
