Cicero is an incorporated town located in Cook County, in the U.S. state of Illinois. Home to a population of over 84,100 residents, Cicero is the tenth-largest municipality in Illinois and one of the largest incorporated towns in the state. Founded in the mid-19th century, Cicero was the site of the Hawthorne Works, a factory that supplied telecommunications equipment and services to residents of Cicero and beyond. Much of the city’s growth was attributed to the site, though it was closed in 1983. Cicero was also much bigger when it was founded, but various neighborhoods broke away from the city over the past two hundred years including cities such as Berwyn and Oak Park.

Auto Transport Information to and from Cicero
Cicero is located only a few miles west of Chicago’s downtown, which makes it an area that sees quite a bit of auto transport traffic, all things considered. The Chicago Metropolitan Statistical Area is one of the largest in the entire country, home to over nine million residents, and Cicero is basically right smack in the middle of it. This is really helpful when it comes to shipping a vehicle to or from Cicero because there’s going to be a lot of carriers willing to run routes through the Chicago area almost any time of the year. More people in an area tends to make it a more popular area, and Cicero is no different; you might be able to find a better deal shipping in or out of somewhere else in the Chicago area, but it depends on the route that the carrier is taking and how far out of the way you’d have to go.
It also helps that Cicero sits right along I-55, one of the main north-south interstate highways that runs through the Chicago metro area. This allows auto transport drivers much greater ease of access into and out of Cicero, which makes scheduling and route construction a lot easier for them while also helping your prices and overall pickup and/or delivery windows. I-55 may not be a major east-west interstate, but it’s a crucial transportation corridor in the Midwest and connects to almost every east-west interstate in the country, so it’s not all that difficult for an auto transport carrier to include a trip up or down I-55 in their route if they’re running cross-country. This ease of access helps lower prices and keep pickup windows shorter, which is great news if you’re shipping in or out of a city that sits right along it – oh, like Cicero.
