Palmdale is a city located in Los Angeles County, California, in the Antelope Valley. Home to over 152,000 residents as of the 2010 US Census, and currently sits as the 32nd largest city in the state of California. Over the past thirty years or so Palmdale has been one of the fastest-growing cities not just in California but on the entire West Coast, at least in terms of population change, though to start it was nothing more than a tiny agricultural community on the outskirts of the Mojave Desert. World War II brought new industry to the city, including a heavy investment in aerospace development; today it is the home of several major aerospace and aeronautics companies, and it is one of the primary sources of employment for the town’s residents.

Auto Transport Tips to and from Palmdale
Though Palmdale used to have Highway 6, also known as the Sierra Highway, running through it, the California Department of Transportation decided to reroute it near Bishop and today Palmdale is mainly accessible via SR-14, also known as the Antelope Valley Highway. SR-14 is not a major highway, though it is used often enough by carries as it links cities such as Palmdale, Santa Clarita, Lancaster and Bakersfield to Interstate 5, which runs near the western border of Santa Clarita.
The Antelope Valley Highway is a major connection to the Greater Los Angeles Area and the primary means of transportation to and from Palmdale. However, carriers that are not continuing through Palmdale – in other words, if they just have to pickup or deliver to the area and then get back to I-5 – will likely charge you more as a result. You can usually save some money shipping to or from Palmdale by moving your pickup or delivery location to Santa Clarita, which is larger and has easier access via the interstate.
Due to its location, Palmdale will likely be more expensive to ship to even if you’re going to Santa Clarita, but more than that, it will likely take longer to find a carrier to ship to or from the area, which will likely increase your wait time between booking your order and pickup. More money can solve this problem, but at standard rates you should be expecting a longer waiting time than the normal 1-7 days.
