Williamsport is a city in and the county seat of Lycoming County, Pennsylvania; according to the official US Census conducted in 2000 the population of the city was over 30,000, and it is the principal city of the Williamsport Metropolitan Statistical Area. The MSA is a part of the much larger Williamsport-Lock Haven Combined Statistical Area.

It was incorporated as a borough in 1806, though it was reincorporated as a city in 1816 and was the home of Little League Baseball. It is steeped in Little League tradition, with the Little League World Series being held in the city each year. During the late 19th century the city was known for its thriving lumber industry.
