Troy was founded in 1787 officially, though settlers had been living in the region for quite some time before that. The name was adopted in 1789, and for some strange reason many cities founded in Central New York after the American Revolution had antique names (Syracuse, Utica, Rome, etc). It was a manufacturing town until the late 1960’s, when urban flight plagued the city and factories began to close down.

During the summer months the city’s temperatures hit around 90 degrees during the day, with overnight lows often dropping down to around 64 degrees. During the winter, temperatures drop severely, with highs topping out just around freezing and lows often hitting 14 degrees overnight, though sometimes it can get colder.
