Seneca Falls is a town in Seneca County, New York. According to the official US Census conducted in 2000 the town’s population was just over 9,300, and the Town of Seneca Falls also has a village called Seneca Falls. Both are located east of Geneva, New York and are in the northern part of the Finger Lakes district of the region. Despite the two towns sharing the same name they are, in fact, separate politically.

Seneca Falls and the surrounding region were originally part of the Central New York Military Tract, which was reserved for veterans after the end of the American Revolution. Another area was set aside for the Cayuga tribe who inhabited the area before settlers arrived. Seneca Falls is, perhaps, most famous for the convention that began the movement for women’s rights in 1848.
