Minden is a city in and the parish seat of Webster Parish, Louisiana; it is located just 28 miles east of Shreveport, which is the seat of Caddo Parish. According to the official US Census conducted in 2000 the population was over 13,000. It is the principal city of the Minden Micropolitan Statistical Area, which is a part of the larger Shreveport-Bossier City-Minden Combined Statistical Area.

It was established in 1836 and was actually named after a city in Germany, which was the hometown of founder Charles Veeder. It was a major Confederate encampment and supply depot during the American Civil War and was also the site of one of the largest Coca-Cola bottling plants. Today the plant is now one of the company’s largest distributing centers.
