Merrill is a city in Lincoln County, Wisconsin. According to the official US Census conducted in 2000 the population of the city was over 10,000 and it is the principal city of the Merrill Micropolitan Statistical Area, which does include all of Lincoln County. It is part of the much larger Wausau-Merrill Combined Statistical Area, which had a population of over 155,000.

It was originally designed and founded as a logging town named Jenny Bull Falls, though it was legally changed to Merrill in honor of the manager at the railroad that was built through the town. It was the setting for the 1975 film The Giant Spider Invasion (though it didn’t do very well), and was also featured in an episode of Mystery Science Theater 3000.

During the summer months the temperatures of the city typically hit around 80 degrees during the day, with overnight lows often dropping down to around 52 degrees.
