Lebanon is a city in as well as the county seat of Lebanon County, Pennsylvania and when it was founded was known as Steitztown. According to the official US Census conducted in 2000 the city’s population was 24,000.

Lebanon was first founded in 1720 by many different families (mostly from Germany) along what was originally known as Steitz Creek, and the town was laid out in 1753. It was incorporated as a borough in 1820 and again as a city in 1885 and was known for its major steel mill which was owned and operated by the now defunct Bethlehem Steel.
