Holland is a city in the state of Michigan and is actually located in two separate counties. It is a member of Ottawa and Allegan County and according to an unofficial 2007 US Census estimate the city’s population was over 34,000, and it is actually the principal city of the Holland-Grand Haven Metropolitan Statistical Area, which had a population of over 261,000 at the time of the 2000 US Census.

Dutch Calvinist separatists founded the city in 1847 and it was incorporated not long after its founding. In 1871 the city suffered a major fire and at the time was known as the “City of Churches,” as there were (and still are) over 170 churches in the city. It is also the birthplace of the “What Would Jesus Do?” bracelets that became popular in the 1990’s.

During the summer months the city’s temperatures hit around 84 degrees during the day, with overnight lows dropping down to around 62 degrees overnight.
