Cary is a city in both Wake and Chatham counties in North Carolina, and according to the 2000 US Census the town’s population was over 94,000. According to more recent estimates, however, the town’s population has skyrocketed to over 134,000, which makes it the largest town and the seventh largest municipality in the state.

Cary was first founded in 1750 and its original name was Bradford’s Ordinary; the town was built in the middle of two major cities, which prompted the North Carolina Railroad to be built through the town. By 1854 the name had changed to Cary and the growth of the city became organized, with city ordinances helping to control the growth of the town.
