Broken Arrow is a city located in primarily Tulsa County, Oklahoma, with parts of the city located in western Wagoner County. Home to over 98,500 residents, Broken Arrow is the fourth-largest city in the state of Oklahoma by population and a primary part of the Tulsa, Oklahoma Metropolitan Statistical Area, which is home to over 961,500 residents. Broken Arrow is widely known for its manufacturing facilities, and has the third-largest concentration of manufacturing employers in the entire state of Oklahoma.

Unlike Oklahoma City and Norman, as well as numerous other cities in Oklahoma, Broken Arrow was not a city formed from the initial 1889 Oklahoma Land Rush. Instead, Broken Arrow formed in 1902, after the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad built a railway through the area and sold lots surrounding said railroad to customers in nearby Tulsa and other communities in the region. From there, growth in Broken Arrow was slow but sure; primarily an agricultural area, this changed during World War II and into the latter half of the 20th century, and today Broken Arrow is a major manufacturing center in the area.

During the summer months, average highs in Broken Arrow tend to reach into the upper 80’s and even into the low 90’s, with temperatures over 100 degrees reported. Overnight lows usually drop down into the mid-to-upper 60’s, though overnight lows in the upper 70’s have been seen. During the winter months, temperatures drop drastically, with daily highs only reaching into the upper 40’s and overnight lows often dropping into the low-to-mid 20’s. Snow is not particularly common, though it is not unheard of.
