Across the Map: Texas Car Transport Services

Texas 3The state of Texas is, surprisingly, one of the most diverse in the United States in a number of key metrics, notably its geography and its flora/fauna. Most people think Texas is a barren wasteland that people living there have to suffer through, but the truth is far different from the perception. To start, yes, there are some areas of Texas that are pretty barren – on the western side, away from most of the major population centers. But most all the largest cities in the state are located in the east and the southeast, either on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico or near it. Texas is the home of Dallas and Houston, the fifth and sixth largest metropolitan areas in the United States. Interestingly, less than 10% of the state is made up of actual desert; the rest of the state has varied geography and topography, depending on your location. You can read more about Texas here.

The state of Texas is huge. We mean, really big – second only to Alaska big. In addition to being the home of the fourth and fifth largest metropolitan areas in the country, it is also the home of Houston – the largest city in the state and fourth-largest in the country, as well as San Antonio, which is second-largest in the state and seventh in the country. As such, Texas has a large and expansive infrastructure, and the Interstate Highway System has several major routes running both north-west and east-south. As Texas spans quite a bit of the southern part of the U.S., it’s not surprising that four major interstates – I-10, I-20, I-30 and I-40 – all pass through major metro areas. I-10 is furthest south, servicing San Antonio and Houston; I-20 branches off of I-10 in west Texas and runs east through Dallas; I-30 branches off in Dallas and heads east into Little Rock, Arkansas; and I-40 runs through the northern tip of the state, primarily Amarillo. Of the north-south routes, I-35 connects Dallas, San Antonio and Laredo together, while I-37 runs from San Antonio to the port city Corpus Christi, and I-45 connects Dallas and Houston.

Because of Texas’ many major cities and metropolitan areas, it’s one of the most popular auto transport locations in the entire country. All the major cities see heavy auto transport traffic, though you’ll likely find that prices going to the major cities will be cheaper than shipping to smaller cities like Midland or Odessa, even if they sit on a major interstate (though it does help the cause). if you’re interested in learning more about auto transportation to or from Texas, read our helpful article regarding it; you can also give us a call at our toll-free telephone number with any questions you may have, and you can fill out our free online quote request form to get multiple quotes from five-star rated auto transport companies that we personally check for responsibility and to ensure they all are fully licensed, bonded and insured.
